Marbella Paseo Marítimo

There can be few activities more pleasant than a stroll along the Paseo Marítimo beach promenade of Marbella – whatever the time of day, week or season.

The real heart of Marbella is its Casco Antigo or Old Town. It is reached by leaving behind the beach and the Paseo Marítimo (sea promenade), and crossing the main road that bisects the town.

Founded in 1970 by José Banús, after whom it is named, Puerto Banús forms the culmination of a process that began with the Marbella Club on the Golden Mile – the glamorous palm tree-fringed avenue that connects the famous marina with the town.

Mijas Costa

Mijas Costa covers a large area and is home to a diverse selection of residential communities. It is located midway between Marbella to the west and Málaga city and airport to the east. The latter makes it an excellent choice for anyone who travels frequently and wants fast, easy access to the airport, or to the train station in the city centre, where you can catch the high speed trains to Barcelona and Madrid.

It can be a little difficult to define Sotogrande, the exclusive resort on the western edge of the Costa del Sol. Is it a town, a holiday resort or something in-between? In reality it is a little of all of these, as the private country club established by Colonel McMicking and his wife Mercedes Zobel in 1962 has since become a living community that is also recognised as one of the most luxurious resort destinations in Spain.

A lot of people think Marbella offers sun, sea, sandy beaches, luxury entertainment amenities and a glamorous lifestyle – and it does – but especially those who live here year-round also enjoy the rich cultural offering available in this sunny region of Europe.

Estepona, pico Los Reales

Estepona has long been in the shadow of its better-known neighbours Marbella and Puerto Banús, though in recent years the town council, under the leadership of Mayor José Urbano, has made real strides in updating and refurbishing the town. Now rebranded as ‘the garden of the Costa del Sol’, Estepona has seen a fabulous rejuvenation.
