The marina at Estepona

As a small but thriving fishing town and increasingly in-vogue residential destination, Estepona would not be complete without a marina. In fact, the yacht harbour located in the western part of town – and near the little fishing port – is now an integral part of this place, offering a concentrated spot not only for yachting but also dining, shopping and nightlife.

The marina at Estepona

The restaurants and bars that line this small but popular marina look out over an active yachting harbour where the ships may not be as big or grandiose as those in Puerto Banús, but are at the heart of a very active sailing community. The marina has 447 berths filled with a wide range of yachts, sailing boats, classical and modern vessels belonging to people across Spain and Europe.

The atmosphere is laid-back and friendly, and while it offers practicalities such as supermarkets, news agents and chandlers shops, amongst others, it is the varied cuisine and nightlife on offer that also draws many to the Estepona marina. From the authentic fish restaurants of the neighbouring fresh fish market to the restaurants, cafés and bars of the marina, the choice is broad.

A lively market visits the marina on Saturdays, and during summer and weekend evenings the port is a favoured destination for a meal, drink and some dancing. There are bars, small nightclubs and also Salsa bars to choose from, but this is an area marked by its easygoing atmosphere and wide range of ages, making it a family destination that also appeals to those keen for a night out.

Estepona’s marina finds itself the focal point of a residential area that is increasingly upmarket and in-demand. It offers a combination of attractive apartments and townhouses that offer good value for money as permanent and holiday homes, but especially the area extending westwards along the coast is a newly emerging exclusive zone of luxury resort hotels and frontline beach apartment complexes backed by attractive villas suburbs set within peaceful, leafy streets.
