Introducing Mijas Costa
| 22nd Feb
Mijas Costa covers a large area and is home to a diverse selection of residential communities. It is located midway between Marbella to the west and Málaga city and airport to the east. The latter makes it an excellent choice for anyone who travels frequently and wants fast, easy access to the airport, or to the train station in the city centre, where you can catch the high speed trains to Barcelona and Madrid.
The areas of Mijas
Mijas is split into several areas, each with its own character:
- Mijas Pueblo is a typical ‘pueblo blanco’ that buzzes with life and culture. Its auditorium hosts musical evenings with international acts, it has several art galleries and a number of artisan businesses, all of which attract significant numbers of visitors.
- Mijas Costa embraces the main residential and commercial areas of Torrenueva, El Chaparral, Calahonda and Riviera del Sol.
- Mijas Campo is its inland rural area.
- La Cala de Mijas is a seaside resort, which is becoming increasingly attractive to overseas buyers.
Furthermore, Mijas Costa is the place to look if you enjoy golf and you want to be close to some of the best shopping on the coast.
Golf on Mijas Costa
There are several golf clubs to choose from in Mijas Costa. El Chaparral is an 18-hole course and the only one on the coast to have six par 3, six par 4 and six par 5. Bil Bil Golf is a new course that features the only pitch and putt course in Andalucía. Mijas Golf has two courses: Los Lagos and Los Olivos. Both are 18-hole, with Los Olivos being more suited to beginners and intermediate levels. But, there are many more within the area, including La Noria, Torquebrada, Santana and La Cala.
Mijas restaurants and bars
Living here will mean you have access to a veritable smorgasbord of restaurants and bars. They include Asian, Indian and British fish and chips to modern Mediterranean and Spanish. The selection is so enormous that it is almost impossible to run out of new places to visit.
